This candle was made by a beekeeper from 100% pure beeswax and is an artifact of the sun itself . our wax is a combination of cappings (the wax that is scraped off of the comb during the honey extraction process) and burr comb ( the wax bees build in wonky places harvested during the spring and summer months as i inspect hives). we source our beeswax from our own hives or from other South Georgia beekeepers we work with. Most beeswax candles are made with 49% petroleum based waxes like paraffin and may only contain 51% Bees wax there by meeting the legal qualifications for "pure". beeswax has been used by humans for hundreds of thousands of years. First credited to the Egyptians, beeswax candles remain the top choice for their unique honey scent, pleasant warm glow and clean burning flame. Beeswax releases negative ions as it burns. Airborne pollen, dust, mites, dirt, pollutants, all carry a positive charge, and that is how they can be suspended in the air. The negative ions released from burning beeswax negate the positive charge of air contaminants, and the neutralized ions are sucked back into the burning candle or fall to the ground. Similarly, many air purifiers and water filters utilize negative ion technology to remove toxins. As our candles are made from 100% pure beeswax we do not add nor subtract from the raw wax itself, this results in a beeswax candle that is a true work of art as every batch of beeswax is slightly different, the candle maker must use the precise gauge and material for the wick in order to create a flame that is both long burning clean and even. It is important when lighting your candle the first time that you let the candle burn fora minimum one hour, or until the melt pool has reached its finale size before extinguishing. this will ensure that the candle remains burning evenly with no tunneling.
